A. CAN A CHRISTIAN HAVE A DEMON?
Nature of man: Spirit, Soul and Body. Thess.5:23, Heb.4:12.
Man is a spirit, has a soul and lives in a body.
(i) CAN DEMONS INHABIT THE SPIRIT OF A CHRISTIAN?
No! At new birth the spirit is recreated and becomes the abode of God II Cor.5:17, Jn.14:23, Jn.8:12 and I Cor.6:17, II Cor.6:14.
To keep your spirit from attacks of the enemy you have to:-
Feed on the word for strength – Lk.4:4.
Charge your spirit battery, - Jude1:20.
(ii) CAN THE SOUL (MIND, WILL AND EMOTIONS) OF A CHRISTIANS DEMONIZED)? YES
The new birth is a rebirth of the spirit and not the soul. Since the soul is not saved at new birth it can be oppressed, obsessed or possessed by demons Matt.
16:22- 23, Acts 5:1-4, I Cor.3:3 Note that demonic attacks on the soul could be from within or outside the soul.
To keep the soul from attack, the Bible encourages the following:- Jas.1:21-22, I Pet 1:22, Ps.23, Isa.26:3, Phil.4:6-8, Rom.12:1-2, Eph.4:23, Josh.1:8, Phil.4:8, we need to get our mind renewed with the word of God so that our spirit, the real man, working with our mind
can govern our body.
iii. CAN DEMONS INHABIT THE BODY OF CHRISTIANS? YES.
The new birth is neither a r rebirth of man’s body. It is not a physical but spiritual change Demons activity on the body often comes in the of sickness and diseases Lk.11:14, Lk.13:11-13, Acts19:12.
What Happened To Evil Spirit Resident In The Christians Before New Birth?
They often stay until they are cast out Mk.6:7, 12-13, Acts 8:23 However, one who is born again and not previously demonized may not be demonized if he feeds on and obeys the word of God. Jam.4:7, I Pet.5:8-9
WHO NEEDS DELIVERANCE?
Everybody under demonic influence needs deliverance. The activity of demons could manifest or regular tragedies, sexual immorality, stagnancy in life; rejection; unwarranted miscarriages; abnormal dreams, abnormal development of one or more of the senses, emotional imbalance (resentment, envy, jealousy, hatred, depression, procrastination, poor memory etc) addiction (sleep, food, sex, music, etc.) speech perversion (lying, exaggeration, backbiting etc) physical disorders, psychic deformation, insanity, wizardry, ogbanje, occultism and religious perversion, knight. However, not all these manifestations always reveal demonic implication.
METHODS OF DELIVERANCE
Acts 3:6 Eph.1:20-21, Lk.4:4-12, I Pet.1:18-19, I Cor.14:18, Heb.2:14, Mk.9:29, Lk.4:40-41, I Sam.16:23, I Kgs.3:15. Praising God using the word of God, anointing with oil, using the name of Jesus, prayer of agreement, binding and loosening the spirit, pleading the Blood Jesus, sometimes fasting, speaking in tongues etc. Note that it is important to let the Holy Spirit guide you when ministering deliverance.
HOW CAN ONE BE DELIVERED?
Be born again Jn.3:3, forgive others Mk.11:25-26, Repent Lk.13:3. Do not hold on to occult symbols / objects renounce old covenants and forsake old ways.
E. HOW YOU VCAN STAY DELIVERED
Gal. 5:1, Matt.12:43-45, Jn.5:14, II Tim.2:15, Josh.1:8, I Pet.1:13-15, Duet.18:9-
10, Rev.12:11, I Jn.4:18, Col.3:16, Acts 1:13-15, Duet.18:19-10, Rev.12:11, I Jn.4:18, Col.3:16, Acts 1:8, I Cor.14:15, Heb.10:25, Matt.28:10-20. Live a holy life, avoid all old habits, keep off from ocultic practices, confess your deliverance often, be bold, study the bible, pray always, fellowship with Christians, preach Christ.
Conclusion
This study is not exhaustive on this subject. Whatever the affliction you are going through, today is the day of your deliverance in Jesus name.
